Protect the Public, Not the Illegal Aliens
The Rhode Island legislature is currently considering a bill to require the state’s employers to verify that all new employees are legal workers. Introduced by two Woonsocket-area Democrats, Sen. Marc Cote and Rep. Jon Brien, it passed the RI House in April, by a vote of 38-33. Massachusetts lawmakers should take note — this is a common sense approach to a problem that burdens our state as well...

Feinstein Farm Jobs Bill May Lead to Immigration Fix
...Now comes Democratic U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein with a plan to fix these problems. "In a sense, this might set a pattern for overall immigration reform," she said in an interview. Feinstein would allow illegal immigrants already here to achieve temporary legal status if they can prove they've worked at least 150 days in each of the last two years or 100 days in each of the last five. She would allow no more than 1.35 million such legalizations (families of legalized workers could also apply). After three more years of steady work (at least 150 days per year), the former illegals and their families could apply for green cards conferring permanent legal residency...

State Should Cut Costs On Illegal Immigration
(TheCalifornian.com)

California is facing a budget crisis. Arnold wants to eliminate jobs to balance the budget. This does not help the economy. Arnold wants to close parks, which is a bad move because of the vandalism, poaching and fires that would occur.

There are some things that could be cut which many Californians would agree with: California spends over $10 billion a year to subsidize illegal immigrants. Los Angeles County alone spends over $300 million a year on food stamps for illegal immigrants, the thousands of illegals in our state prisons cost over $900 million a year to feed, clothe, etc. I don't even want to get into what illegals are costing our hospitals.

We need to stop spending money on people who do not contribute to our society. They pay no taxes yet expect everything with no cost.

This is the land of the free, not the land of come here and live for free.

Ohio Call to Action

Please call those U.S. Representative(s) listed below who are from your state. These Members of Congress serve on the very important House Appropriations Committee.
On Friday, June 12, 2009 the House Appropriations Committee will consider a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security for 2010. This bill, the Homeland Security Appropriations Bill, contains funding for many important agencies to help secure our nation's borders and to combat illegal immigration. A provision is already included in this bill that would extend the critical E-Verify program, a program that allows employers to quickly verify that new hires are legally able to work in the U.S., for another two years.
In addition, we understand that Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA), who has been a long supporter of E-Verify, will offer an amendment to the bill that would also require all federal contractors who work with DHS to use the E-Verify program. This common-sense amendment will help combat illegal immigration and will help protect American jobs by ensuring that these government contractors hire only legal American workers.
In November 2008, the Bush Administration proposed a rule similar to the Kingston amendment. But when special interest groups sued the government to block the rule, the Bush Administration postponed the final rule from going into effect. Since then, the Obama Administration has further postponed the final rule three additional times. The most recent postponement will further delay the requirement that federal contractors use E-Verify until September 8, 2009. In the meantime, federal contractors will continue to hire illegal aliens, and pay them with U.S. tax dollars, while Americans remain out of work.
That is why the Kingston Amendment is so important - it will protect American jobs. Americans are suffering the highest rate of unemployment in over 25 years, and we need to do everything possible to make sure the few jobs that are available, are going to American citizens and legal immigrants with work authorization.
Please call the U.S. Representative(s) from your state and ask them to support Rep. Kingston's amendment. This amendment will literally save American jobs!!
