An Illegal alien graduated from Harvard. A sob story newspaper article bemoaned his lack of options, stating that he thought that the Dream Act would be law by now. The reporter neglected to mention that the Harvard alumni network is some 3,000 strong in Mexico, and includes the current and former presidents of that country. This guy should be able to find a good job, legally, in Mexico.

Today, House Committee Showed Why You Can Never Believe A Congressman Without Verification

By Roy Beck, Friday, July 31, 2009
Congressmen lie. Congressmen deceive. Congressmen think the voters in their District are either idiots or too apathetic to notice. Today's vote on health care for illegal aliens is such a perfect example. The vote was a farce that will be used by many Congressmen to defend themselves against charges that they promote illegal immigration, when in fact their action today just encouraged more of it.

Keep the Pressure on Congress
Author Photo
By Chris Chmielenski, Friday, August 7th, 2009
The House of Representatives began their summer recess last week, and the Senate will be leaving Washington this week to spend some time in their districts before Labor Day. This is the best time to get to your Members' local office and tell them to vote against giving health care to illegal aliens. Read Roy's blog that summarizes an op-ed written by Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) detailing the ways illegal aliens can get coverage under the new plan. You can find a list of your Members' local offices on our website. The pro-amnesty groups are organizing trips to Town Hall Meetings across the country, so make sure your voice is being heard as well.

NumbersUSA takes no position on health care reform, but we do oppose the coverage of 11-19 million illegal aliens. When attending a Town Hall Meeting or visiting a local office (see a list of talking points), it's important that you stress the importance of verification. The health care reform bill (H.R.3200) excludes illegal aliens from receiving benefits, but without verification, it will be easy for anyone to receive benefits under the bill. Don't let your Congressmen off the hook; keep the pressure on until the say they'll support adding verification to the bill.

We also had four great amendments added to the Homeland Security spending bill last month. The amendments would permanently re-authorize E-Verify and make it mandatory for all government contractors, ensure the completion of the border fence along the Southwest border, and reinstate the No-Match letter program. After the summer recess, a conference committee will decide whether or not to keep these amendments in the bill. Ask your Members to keep these four amendments passed by the Senate in the bill.

Distinction Fading Between 'Legal' and 'Illegal'
...Asked what he thought about illegal immigration, the late singer-politician Sonny Bono replied: "It's illegal." Nowadays, of course, referring to illegal immigration as somehow illegal is considered overly harsh and judgmental, perhaps racist and nativist as well. Better to refurbish one's vocabulary by talking about "undocumented workers," which eliminates that unwelcome hint of lawbreaking...

Why Vote on Lussenheide For United States Congress
Illinois Dems Renew Push for Immigration Reform
When the summer recess is over and Congress returns to Capitol Hill, will immigration reform remain a top priority for Democrats? While members of Congress have been sending mixed messages about exactly how hard they'll push for reform, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-New York) has pledged to introduce legislation before Labor Day. And just this morning, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano said that she sees drafting such legislation as the most pressing issue on her department's agenda. Still, the White House itself has been somewhat slow to commit...
