Ohio Governor Email Alert

Tell the governor to support official English

As you know the Ohio State House of Representatives passed H.B. 477 to make English the official language of Ohio by a vote of 54-42. In our previous alert, we said we did not expect the bill to be up for a vote in the Senate before fall.

But things have changed. Last week the Toledo Blade reported that Gov. Ted Strickland threatened to veto the bill if it came to his desk. In response, H.B. 477 sponsors in the State Senate have accelerated their timetable, and the bill is now scheduled for its first Senate committee hearing today.

Please click TAKE ACTION NOW and to send a free email to Gov. Strickland and urge him to stand with the overwhelming majority of Ohioans who support H.B. 477.

Also, please consider a [tax-deductible] contribution to ProEnglish. We receive no government funds and depend entirely on voluntary contributions from the public for our support. Click here to make a secure donation online. Thank you!
