HI RALLY TEAM MEMBERS:
On Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at 7:30 PM Oberlin City Council will vote on a resolution to declare Oberlin a "Sanctuary City".
The Grass Roots Rally Team has spoken at Oberlin Council meetings and contacted the individual members of City Council to warn them of the dangers inherent in "sanctuary city" status.
1. When illegal immigrants flood an area, schools are forced to spend more time and money on teaching English and coping with crowded classrooms. 2. Housing codes are violated as many people occupy small houses or just one room, but the codes are difficulty to enforce.
3. Emergency rooms are over crowded as illegal immigrants must go to an ER where care must be provided to any person even if he/she does not have insurance. The taxpayer picks up the bill for that health care.
4. an increase in crime results as gangs follow the illegals into an area
We ask you to contact Oberlin City Council members before this Dec 15 meeting and respectfully advise them that such a resolution is unwise. Feel free to use the points above in your discussion or add your own. The names and contact information are listed below.
