Illegal Immigrants Detained in Separate Traffic Stops: Richmond Heights Police Blotter (Richmond Heights, Ohio - November 19, 2009)

ILLEGAL ALIENS, RICHMOND ROAD:
An officer on patrol at 8 p.m. Friday, saw a trailer being pulled by a truck. The trailer had no lights and the truck was stopped.

The truck’s driver had only a Mexican driver’s license. When asked, he admitted he was in the country illegally. The passenger had an Ohio ID, but also admitted to be in the country illegally. The truck is owned by a Richmond Heights man.

Police contacted immigration officials who spoke to the men via telephone, then arranged to pick them up at the police station.

ILLEGAL ALIENS, RICHMOND ROAD: An officer on patrol at 1:25 a.m. Monday, noticed a car driving slowly and holding up traffic. The officer followed the car as it continued to be driven slowly, with its brakes intermittently applied. The officer activated his overhead lights and the car turned off into the Richmond Town Square lot.

Two men were in the car and neither spoke English. The officer attempted to speak to the men in Spanish. The men were drinking and the car contained several empty containers of beer. The men were arrested and immigration authorities contacted.

It was found that the passenger in the car is a felon as he was already removed from the country once.
