Don't let president's verbal misdirections fool you into believing he supports the deportation of illegal immigrants

For decades, one of the most challenging problems facing activists who favor lower immigration levels is “stealth amnesty.” Broadly defined, that means administrations dating back as far as President George H.W. Bush and continuing through President Barack Obama’s, have willfully ignored illegal immigration and allowed aliens to live openly, take jobs, start families and enroll their children in public school with little fear of deportation.

Because of the Executive Branch’s indifference to enforcing immigration laws, millions of aliens have illegally planted roots in the United States over a 25-year period.

Disregard has reached its peak under the current administration. In 2010, an internal memo drafted by four U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services staffers for agency director Alejandro N. Mayorkas outlined a plan that would allow the USCIS, under certain provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act, to “develop and implement a registration program for individuals who are unlawfully present in the U.S.” and to enact “meaningful immigration reform absent legislative action.”...[Full Article]

Obama’s Backdoor Amnesty

The Obama administration has begun implementing a backdoor amnesty through selective enforcement of U.S. immigration law.

A leaked internal memorandum from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) -- part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) -- entitled “Administrative Alternatives to Comprehensive Immigration Reform” revealed a series of “deferred action” plans to sidestep legislative requirements.

Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla.), ranking Republican on House Homeland Security Committee’s oversight subcommittee, spoke with HUMAN EVENTS about these recent actions -- or orders for inaction.

“It’s a separation of powers issue,” Bilirakis told HUMAN EVENTS in an exclusive interview. “I think they feel that they don’t have the votes in both chambers to pass amnesty. This should go through the legislative process.”...

Obama’s Backdoor Amnesty Follows A Pattern of Disrespect for Our Laws

President Barack Obama lets people break laws that he doesn’t like. The latest example is his backdoor amnesty for thousands of illegal immigrants, as a still-fuzzy but insidious picture is emerging.

Obama shows a pattern of refusing to enforce laws (or refusing to permit states like Arizona to enforce them). When he dislikes our laws, Obama forces change by dictate rather than seeking legal change through the political process. Congress gets bypassed.

Those benefiting can claim a new category of legal immunity: FBO’s–Favored By Obama.

Selective enforcement is being taken to new extremes. Furor would follow any straightforward official announcement that Obama is forgiving thousands from deportation, so the new amnesty policy is coming to light gradually, memo by memo and place by place.

One new memo from Obama’s Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) declares ICE’s unwillingness to act on local arrests of illegals unless they are accused of serious offenses like felonies or DUI’s; a second memo announces that thousands of pending deportations will be dismissed because the defendants don’t face serious charges–if of course you don’t count immigration violations.

From Houston comes word that immigration lawyers have been “stunned” when they arrive in court only to learn that the government was dismissing their cases, part of a systematic review of thousands of pending deportation cases. From Miami it’s reported that tens of thousands of cases are involved. From Dallas we hear that even some with criminal records will have cases dismissed, that “defendants can have one misdemeanor conviction, but it cannot involve a DWI, family violence or a sex crime.”

Excusing an additional misdemeanor, in addition to violations of immigration law, makes a mockery of the legal process...

Senators Challenge Pres. Obama On Rumors Of Executive Order Amnesty

Several Senators have learned of a possible plan by the Obama Administration that would provide a mass Amnesty for the nation's 11-18 million illegal aliens. Led by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), eight Senators addressed a letter to the President asking for answers to questions about a plan that would allow DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano to provide an amnesty if they can't secure enough votes for a bill in the Senate.

The letter that was sent to Pres. Obama earlier today asks the President for clarification on the use of deferred action or parole for illegal aliens. The executive actions are typically used in special cases and are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but if 60 votes can't be secured in the Senate to pass a mass Amnesty, the Administration may use the discretionary actions as an alternative...
