Maybe speed limits in other countries are merely suggestions. That might be why a car filled with foreigners was stopped Friday morning for speeding through the city.
An officer spotted a blue Ford Explorer heading north on Brecksville Road near Snowville Road at 56 mph in the 35 mph zone. Behind the wheel was a 22-year-old man who spoke very little English. He said the group was on their way home to New York.
He, along with two of the passengers, had only Mexican identification cards. The driver said they were coming from a friend's home in Akron. Asked if they were here legally, none of the men answered, and the driver appeared nervous.
The officer contacted the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office to see if the five men were illegal immigrants. Through brief conversations with the men, the ICE officer determined they were, and asked Brecksville police hold them until Monday
The men, ages 22-46, were detained at the station for pickup by immigration authorities.

If he hadn't been blocking a driveway, no one would know he was illegally living in the country.
The officer saw his car parked on the curb in front a house blocking half the driveway with the engine running.
The driver handed him a Mexican driver's license and told him he wasn't here legally. A second officer was translating and speaking to the man in Spanish.
They called immigration and cited him for no driver's license.

SPEEDING, I-480: A Cleveland woman was arrested June 5 for speeding on I-480 West. She was also found to be driving with a suspended license. Two passengers in her vehicle were found to be illegal aliens. Immigration officials were notified.
If a group of United States citizens trekked to another country, formed an organization called “The Race,” which demanded open borders, unfettered immigration and citizenship, billions of dollars for bilingual education, health care, housing, job and wage guarantees, and anti-discrimination protection, they would likely soon be jailed or deported in a display of righteous sovereign indignation. But the National Council of La Raza engages in all these activities in the United States, and it receives taxpayer dollars to help promote its radical views...
