Billions Spent by Feds and States to House Illegal Alien Criminals

The New American

The government of the United States spends in excess of $1.5 billion annually to incarcerate hundreds of thousands of criminal aliens.

Figures published in a report issued this week by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) indicate that over the past five fiscal years the number of foreign nationals jailed in federal prisons has increased by 4,000 to a total of 55,000.

A corresponding increase in the criminal alien population in state prisons was revealed, as well. The number increased by 75,000 to an astounding total of nearly 300,000...[Full Article]

Immigrant convicts released and set free

TAMPA - Millions of people come into this country to begin a new life, and for some it's a life of crime.

Some are caught and sent to prison for their criminal activities. After they do their time, these criminal aliens are supposed to be deported. But if their home country won't take them back, they are being released back on the streets free to live in this country.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement places them on what's called an Order of Supervision, similar to probation. We found hundreds of criminal aliens placed on an Order of Supervision living in the Tampa Bay area...[Full Article]

Resist Closed Borders

The assaults on our basic civil and human rights are rooted in the U.S. public’s apparent “consensus” on the need to control the lives of migrants, particularly those crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. Immigrants are the canary in the civil rights coal mine—exposed to rights abuses before structural violence and oppression are extended to the rest of us...[Full Article]
ICE Confirms Nine Roofers Arrested in Hiawatha are Illegal Immigrants

HIAWATHA - Immigration and Custom Enforcement has confirmed the nine roofers arrested in the middle of a job Wednesday morning in Hiawatha are here illegally.

Sanctuary cities to blame for increase in incarcerated aliens

A new Government Accountability Report found that the number of criminal aliens incarcerated in California rose to 102,795 in 2009, a 17 percent increase since 2003. According to federal auditors, more than one in four of the illegal immigrants imprisoned in California are locked up for drug offenses. The average inmate has been arrested a shocking seven times at an average $34,000 annual cost.

The facilitator that allows criminal aliens to roam free is the sanctuary city policy which bans law enforcement officers and municipal employees from asking about an individual's immigration status. Hundreds of cities across the United States, including some of the largest, have declared that illegal immigrants can live without the fear that local authorities may alert ICE of their whereabouts. Even Washington D.C., the nation's capital and U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement's headquarters is a sanctuary. Others include New York, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and -- well, you get my point...[Full Article]

President says Georgia's immigration bill a mistake

ATLANTA -- President Barack Obama has waded into the debate over illegal immigration in Georgia, strongly criticizing the state’s Arizona-style legislation on immigration enforcement.

In an interview with WSB-TV, Obama said of House Bill 87: “It is a mistake for states to try to do this piecemeal. We can’t have 50 different immigration laws around the country. Arizona tried this, and a federal court already struck them down.”...[Full Article]

Rep. Gutierrez Demands Amnesty Through Executive Order

The New American

America’s elected officials are becoming less sheepish about their blatant disregard of the voters and the Constitution. This attitude is evident in the demand of Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) (left) that President Obama decree amnesty for illegal aliens through executive order, circumventing Congress and ignoring the will of the American people.

The Hot Joints writes:

Liberal Democrat Rep. Luis Gutierrez gave a shrill speech [see video below] in which he demanded that Obama install immigration “reform” by executive order. He used the same old tired canards to describe why [we] must have “reform” now. He talked about kids coming home to find their illegal alien parents missing. He talked of neighborhoods being “terrorized” by ICE.
