Barack Obama Is Wrong: 18 Facts Which Prove That Illegal Immigration Is An Absolute Nightmare For The U.S. Economy

The Economic Collapse Blog

Barack Obama has declared that "immigration reform is an economic imperative", and is promising to do his best to get an immigration bill pushed through Congress this year. But will "legalizing" all of the illegal immigration that has taken place over the last several decades improve the struggling U.S. economy or will it actually make our economic problems worse? One of the favorite tricks of top politicians is to promise that the economy is going to improve if we just support what it is that they are currently pushing. Hopefully the Americans people will not buy the nonsense that Obama is spewing. The truth is that Barack Obama is wrong about the economic impact of illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants don't do jobs that Americans "don't want" to do. A million Americans recently showed up to apply for a job at McDonald's. That is how desperate Americans are for work these days. Please don't try to tell me that there aren't millions of Americans out there that would not pick fruit for minimum wage. The millions upon millions of illegal immigrants in this country are stealing jobs, they are depressing wages in a whole host of industries and they are a huge factor in the erosion of the middle class. Millions of middle class American families can't afford to provide for their families anymore and are losing their homes, drowning in debt or going bankrupt. Rather than what Barack Obama is proposing (which is to essentially "legalize" illegal immigration), we need an immigration policy that makes sense and that protects American jobs. (Read More....)

Target 9: Illegal Immigrants Caught And Released In Ohio Valley

WTOV9

The issue of illegal immigrants being taken into custody and then released back into the community is a problem that has been apparent in Ohio County, W.Va. for years.

Most recently, six people were taken into custody after a disturbance outside of a home on Gamble Ave. in Wheeling in April."

Once officers were able to get all the individuals rounded up, they ran checks on them and found that they were in this country illegally," said Police Chief Robert Matheny.

Police notified the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, also known as ICE.Ice detained some of the people, but others were let go. A spokesman released this statement to NEWS9:

"Two individuals are in ICE custody. Since the police did not charge the four remaining individuals with a crime, ICE did not issue detainers"

NEWS9 obtained ICE's Civil Enforcement Priorities policy. It stated that it only had resources to remove 400,000 illegals a year, less than 4% of the estimated illegal immigrant population.

The policy also went on to state that the group then prioritizes who to deport...[Full Article]
Utah sued by ACLU over illegal immigration enforcement law

SALT LAKE CITY — Alicia Cervantes fears Utah's new illegal immigration enforcement law will subject her to police questioning because she is Latina.

A U.S. citizen born in Utah, Cervantes also believes the passage of HB497 has already led to anti-immigrant sentiment in the state. Recently, her daughter's classmates have said things such as "Send the Mexicans home."

For those reasons, Cervantes signed on as a plaintiff in a federal class-action lawsuit filed Tuesday against the state of Utah over the law set to take effect May 15. It argues the measure is unconstitutional and will lead to racial profiling.

The ACLU and National Immigration Law Center filed the complaint on behalf several individuals and organizations including Utah Coalition of La Raza and the Latin American Chamber of Commerce. Lawyers this week intend to seek an injunction in U.S. District Court to stop the law from being enforced, said Karen McCreary, ACLU of Utah executive director.

In the meantime, the Department of Justice sounds more and more like it might sue the state over the package of illegal immigration bills the Legislature approved this year. The federal government has already gone to court to stop Arizona's enforcement law...[Full Article]

34,448 Illegal Immigrants Spared Deportation

Judicial Watch

In a perplexing development ignored by the mainstream media, the Obama Administration suspended tens of thousands of deportations last year and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano lied to a Senate committee to cover up the astounding figure.

Napolitano told the Senate Judiciary Committee that has oversight over the Department of Homeland Security that her agency halted the deportation of only 900 illegal immigrants in fiscal year 2010. She did admit that the figure could be higher because it excludes “deferred action” granted to illegal immigrants for “humanitarian” reasons.

Not surprisingly, Madame Secretary never indicated how much higher the figure could be, which may lead many to conclude that she purposely deceived federal lawmakers. It turns out that the Obama Administration halted the deportation of 34,448 illegal immigrants last year, according to Homeland Security figures obtained independently by a Senator (Charles Grassley of Iowa) who sits on the Judiciary Committee...[Full Article]

Mormon leader faces deportation

Federal officers arrested 53 year old Felix Callejas, his wife and two of their children at their home April 19. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says a judge ordered Luca Callejas to return to El Salvador in 2008.

Callejas' other family members got the same deportation order in 2009. The family appealed and their case was dismissed earlier this month.

Callejas is the president of a Spanish speaking LDS Church branch in Draper. Concerned church members called local activist Tony Yapias saying they're now afraid to go to church. “The whole membership was devastated over what happened,” says Latino rights advocate Tony Yapias.

Yapias says concerned Mormons called him heartbroken that their branch president, 53-year-old Felix Callejas and his family, were arrested by federal immigration officers.

Callejas was arrested April 19 and remains in jail for living in the U.S. as an illegal alien. His wife and two of their children were also arrested, but have since been released from jail...[Full Article]
Calif may let locals opt out of immigration checks

Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) — California lawmakers are the latest to weigh joining efforts in other states to gain control over a controversial national program that automatically checks the immigration status of arrestees.

The Golden State accounts for more than a third of the deportations under the Immigration and Customs Enforcement program, and some local officials are saying they were misled by the federal government about the program's extent.

Illinois lawmakers are also considering a measure to let communities retreat from the program. Washington state has deferred to local governments on whether they want to join the so-called "Secure Communities" program, which links up the FBI's criminal database and the Department of Homeland Security's records so that every time someone is arrested their immigration status is automatically, electronically checked.

But their efforts could be thwarted as federal officials argue that states have no control over what information is shared among federal agencies.

The tug-of-war over the ICE program highlights the tension between states and the federal government in the absence of a legislative fix on immigration. In the last four years, states have passed a flurry of bills and resolutions on issues ranging from employer verification to access to driver's licenses, most notably Arizona's tough local immigration enforcement law...[Full Article]

President Obama to ramp up immigration fight

Politico

President Barack Obama is ramping up his push to overhaul the immigration system, launching a sustained personal campaign that will rely in part on recruiting outsiders to pressure Congress to take up the controversial issue.

He is committed and will be leaning into this issue in a very serious and very vigorous way,” Melody Barnes, director of the Domestic Policy Council, said Tuesday. “We are upping the intensity on this issue, and hopefully the information and facts about this issue will compel people to act.”...[Full Article]

Napolitano urges federal immigration overhaul

ATLANTA (AP) — The nation's domestic security chief stressed Saturday that a comprehensive immigration overhaul should be left up to Congress, rebuking Georgia politicians who recently adopted a crackdown on illegal immigration that's considered among the nation's toughest.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told the Atlanta Press Club that federal immigration laws are badly in need of a sweeping update, but that Congress should take the lead. She said Georgia residents should be focused on encouraging Congress "that it is time to get to the table."...[Full Article]

Lake County sheriff wants to focus less on immigration, more on crime

Already an outspoken advocate of immigration reform, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran on Monday endorsed legislation that would give Illinois communities more control over anti-illegal immigration efforts.

Curran criticized the federal Secure Communities program, which forces local agencies to share information with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, for deporting hardworking immigrants with established roots in the U.S. in addition to those with criminal convictions...[Full Article]

Immigrants who are in U.S. illegally don't respect our laws

Many of our "progressive" friends in government identify immigrants who are here illegally as 'undocumented immigrants' instead of common references like 'illegal aliens.' Somehow in their thinking the term 'illegal aliens' is demeaning. One of the most powerful liberals in Washington D.C., House of Representatives Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (SF) goes so far as to say that undocumented aliens are, in her estimation, "heroes." In an address she made in a bay area church, Pelosi also labeled U.S. Border Patrol ICE Agents as "un-American." While many Democrats across the country continue to push for amnesty and defend the President's weak border policy, is it any wonder why most of the estimated 12-22 million people who are here illegally have little respect for this country's laws?

Not only have millions of foreigners come into our country illegally, but many of them have committed fraud by using fictitious forms of identification (i.e. social security numbers and driver's licenses) they show employers. What is most disturbing about this is the fact that the federal government itself can uncover this form of crime almost immediately. Why don't they? They won't because to do so would mean they would have to deny themselves of social security and other tax revenue from these sources...[Full Article]
Illegal immigrant going to prison for crash that killed family of four

MOUNTAIN HOME -- The man arrested after a wrong-way crash that killed a family of four last year will spend at least eight years in prison.

An Elmore County judge sentenced Eusebio Pineda Monday to a total of 32 years in prison, with the possibility of parole after eight years.

Pineda pleaded guilty last fall to four counts of vehicular manslaughter following the crash that killed a California family on Interstate 84 near Glenns Ferry.

Toxicology tests showed he was under the influence of alcohol.

Pineda will be deported after he completes his sentence...[Full Article]

Illegal aliens live first in U.S. then try to get status in Canada: Wikileaks

VANCOUVER — American politicians have long believed that Canada is a gateway for illegal immigrants wanting to get into their country, but an internal U.S. consular memo suggests the gate may be swinging the other way.

A cable released recently by online whistleblower Wikileaks says immigrants are living illegally for several years in the U.S. first, and then crossing into Canada and trying to fraudulently gain legal status in Vancouver.

U.S. consul in Vancouver Phillip Chicola wrote to the White House that immigrants show up in Canada with new passports and different names to cover up previous orders of removal or unlawful presence in America.

“There continues to be incidences where applicants try to cover up prior orders of removal or unlawful presence in the U.S.,” Chicola wrote in the Feb. 23, 2010 cable. “Usually, these applicants have only recently arrived in Canada to seek legal status after residing unlawfully in the U.S. for years.”...[Full Article]

Mother confronts killer who brutally murdered her daughter with a metal pipe in random attack

A grieving mother who came to Queens from China to confront her daughter's murderer broke down repeatedly in court Wednesday as she told him what he had taken from her.

"Yao was our sun, our hope, our dreams, our future and our strength," Guihua Yu told Carlos Salazar Cruz, who sat at the defense table with his head bowed.

"You beast!" she shouted during the nearly 45-minute tongue-lashing.

"I just wanted to be able to hold her and see her. What I saw was a corpse, a dead body," she mourned.

"I wanted to die. There was no reason for me to live anymore. The pillar of my life had disappeared. The sky had fallen - all because of this beast. This beast sentenced her to death."

"You have destroyed our lives," Yu wailed. "Come back my daughter! My only child. I have lost my child. My child, my child."...[Full Article]
