Casa Fiesta Owner Pleads Guilty (Toledo, Ohio - February 25, 2010)

Ramon Ornelas gave his fingerprints, signed a plea agreement, answered the judge's questions, then surrendered his passport.

Now he waits.

In June, the principal owner of eight Casa Fiesta restaurants in Ohio -- including locations in Norwalk, Sandusky and Fremont -- will learn his fate.

Sentencing guidelines indicate he should receive between 12 and 16 months in prison, but the court is not bound by that term...

DHS May Scrap Border Patrol Project

The Department of Homeland Security is reevaluating a plan to add security cameras, radar, and sensors, to patrol efforts along the U.S. Mexico border.

The Department of Homeland Security has ordered a drastic reassessment of a Mexican-border fence project that, due to delays and technology glitches, may never be completed.

A project known as SBInet to install cameras, radar, and ground sensors along the fence on the border between the U.S. and Mexico was originally meant to be completed by 2014...

Illegal Immigrants Numbers Rise In the Southeast

ATLANTA (AP) - When the Olympic Games came to Atlanta in 1996, a building boom transformed the landscape of downtown and brought with it an influx of Latino immigrants - both legal and illegal.

In the years since, the number of illegal immigrants living in Georgia has skyrocketed, more than doubling to 480,000 from January 2000 to January 2009, according to a new federal report. That gave Georgia the greatest percentage increase among the 10 states with the biggest illegal immigrant populations during those years. Many in metro Atlanta say the explanation for the boom is simple...
Program That IDs Jailed Illegal Immigrants Sought For Deportation Gets High Marks

For nearly a year, Fairfax County's Adult Detention Center has quietly helped pilot a far-reaching program designed to identify criminal illegal immigrants and assist the federal government in removing them from the United States.

Although controversy over civil liberties issues has surrounded similar efforts, the Fairfax program, Secure Communities, has had a lower profile. It automatically checks the digital fingerprints of anyone processed at the jail against immigration databases maintained by the Department of Homeland Security. If someone is found to be an illegal immigrant whom officials want to deport, an officer of DHS's Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, or ICE, calls the jail's booking desk within an hour to place a "detainer" on the person...
It Isn't Impossible To Stop Illegal Immigration

Many people would have us believe that it would not actually be possible to round up and deport all illegal aliens in the U.S. This is most definitely not the case. It is merely a lack of resolve to do so. How can I say this? Easy. It’s been done successfully multiple times in the past. In fact, three of our most well-known presidents initiated successful illegal alien deportation programs.

NO AMNESTY

Congressman Luis Gutierrez has introduced his Amnesty Bill H.R 4321. It is called Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009 (CIR ASAP). Here is the link for the 600+ pages of H.B. 4321-

Senator Schumer of New York is currently working on a senate amnesty bill, however we do not have a senate bill number at this time.

Our unemployment rate is at an all time high. Our economy is struggling. Why is H.B. 4321 even being considered? We cannot continue to allow illegal immigrants to work jobs in our country, when so many citizens are unemployed and struggling to feed their families and pay their mortgages. What Washington should be doing is securing our borders and enforcing our immigration laws. It's time for U.S. citizens to be put first, not illegal immigrants who choose to ignore our immigration laws. Why should people be rewarded with amnesty for breaking our laws? There are so many immigrants who have followed the rules and are waiting their turn to become a law abiding citizen in this country. Amnesty was given to illegal immigrants in 1986, here we are in 2010 and we're looking at possibly 10 times the amount of illegal immigrants looking to receive amnesty.

February 22, 2010 - February 26, 2010 we will be making phone calls, sending faxes and e-mails to our Ohio representatives to ask them to vote against any form of amnesty.

Talking points:

Any job out there should be available for citizens to be working

Our schools are financially strained and overcrowded

Amnesty did not work in 1986

Cost to our economy - entitlements, healthcare etc

E-verify needs to be made mandatory

Another amnesty would encourage more illegal immigration

Please join us in contacting our representatives. Let them know we are against any form of amnesty. Ask them to secure our borders and enforce our existing immigration laws.

Man Faces Forges Charge After Search (Dover, Ohio - February 16, 2010)

...When a trooper asked for his driver’s license, Hernandez-Box presented him with a consulate identification from Guatemala. He admitted, through a translator, that he didn’t have a driver’s license and also that the document was purchased for $90 in Columbus, Wood said.

“It was definitely a false document,” Wood said, “and based on that we went to the prosecutor and obtained a warrant to search the residence for further false documents.” The warrant, he added, was issued by Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court Judge Edward O’Farrell...
