Last month, 1,200 illegal immigrants working as janitors in Minnesota were fired after a government-prompted review of their paperwork raised questions about their status.

In September, American Apparel, a Los Angeles clothing maker fired about 1,800 immigrant workers — more than a quarter of its work force — after a government audit found problems with documentation meant to verify their legal status...

Whose Responsibility is the Health Care of Illegal Immigrants?

Fifty-one people -- nearly all illegal immigrants -- are facing a "life-or-death limbo" after a cash-strapped Atlanta charity hospital decided it must stop providing them free kidney dialysis treatments that were costing the hospital (or rather taxpayers) $50,000 per year.
That's according to a heart-rending article in Saturday's New York Times about the “excruciating choices” faced by Atlanta's Grady hospital upon closing its outpatient dialysis unit. Over the years, the unit has been overrun by illegal immigrants, and it has thus become a major financial drain on the “taxpayer-supported safety-net hospital,” the Times explained in its lengthy article: "The Breaking Point: Hospital Falters as Refuge for Illegal Immigrants."
Who is to blame for this heart breaking situation?...

ILLEGAL ALIENS, RICHMOND ROAD:
An officer on patrol at 8 p.m. Friday, saw a trailer being pulled by a truck. The trailer had no lights and the truck was stopped.

The truck’s driver had only a Mexican driver’s license. When asked, he admitted he was in the country illegally. The passenger had an Ohio ID, but also admitted to be in the country illegally. The truck is owned by a Richmond Heights man.

Police contacted immigration officials who spoke to the men via telephone, then arranged to pick them up at the police station.

Two men were in the car and neither spoke English. The officer attempted to speak to the men in Spanish. The men were drinking and the car contained several empty containers of beer. The men were arrested and immigration authorities contacted.

It was found that the passenger in the car is a felon as he was already removed from the country once.

Dairy State Encourages Illegal Immigration Despite

Overhearing an ABC Nightline Show a couple of years ago, I listened about a state that was encouraging illegal immigration to fill a need for cheap and reliable dairy labor. What I heard caught my attention, so I took a seat in front of the tube to watch "A Different Side of the Illegal Immigration Debate" a story about Wisconsin and its dairy industry. My interest in the news story was its relation to growing incidences of identity theft...
Foreigners on the Farm: Vt.'s Reliance on Immigrant Workers

Mexican labor on Vermont farms has been a not-so-secret secret for several years. It's estimated there are more than 2,000 illegal workers here. Farmers say even in this economy they cannot find Vermonters willing to do farm work and the hours required-- and that they need illegal labor to survive. Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, has been working for years to get a program that would allow dairy workers to come in, stay for two or three years, and then go home so farmers won't have to break the law...
