More seeking asylum on U.S.-Mexico border, but few will get protection

More seeking asylum on U.S.-Mexico border, but few will get protection The Associated Press Saturday, July 12th 2008, 4:00 AM EL PASO, Texas — Dozens of Mexicans — including police officers, businessmen, at least one prosecutor and a journalist — are asking for political asylum in the U.S. in a desperate and probably hopeless bid to escape an unprecedented wave of drug-related killings and kidnappings south of the border. Under U.S. law, fear of crime is not, in itself, grounds for political asylum. But the sharp spike in asylum applications from the areas wracked by drug-cartel violence — and the willingness of asylum-seekers to sit behind bars in the U.S. for ...

You will not see this heart-stopping photo on the front page of the NY Times, nor on the lead story of the major news networks. The protestors at Montebello High School took the American flag off the school¢s flag pole and hung it upside down while putting up the Mexican flag over it.
(*See pictures below*)
I predict this stunt will be the nail in the coffin of any guest-worker/amnesty plan on the table in Washington. The image of the American flag subsumed to another and turned upside down on American soil is already spreading on Internet forums and via e-mail.
Pass this along to every American citizen in your address books and to every representative in the state and federal government. If you choose to remain uninvolved, do not be amazed when you no longer have a nation to call your own nor anything you have worked for left since it will be 'redistributed' to the activists while you are so peacefully staying out of the 'fray'. Check history, it is full of nations/empires that disappeared when its citizens no longer held their core beliefs and values. One person CAN make a difference.
The battle for our secure borders and immigration laws that actually mean something, however, hasn't even begun.
If this ticks YOU off...PASS IT ON!
IF IT DOESN'T IT SHOULD!

This past January, the Department of Homeland Security reported that since 1996, there had been 278 known incursions by the Mexican military into the United States. They are often seen providing armed escort to drug smugglers. Incredibly, the Mexican military now enters our nation at will, with no response from President Bush. Recently, former members and at least one active-duty member of the Mexican military went much farther than simply escorting smugglers across our border. They broke into a home in Phoenix firing more than 100 rounds, resulting in the death of ...

TUCSON - The Border Patrol agents' union is criticizing hiring and training shortcuts they say the agency is making as it seeks to double in size before President Bush leaves office. The union says the Border Patrol has dropped minimum educational requirements and is deferring background investigations for new hires, among other changes they say are hurting the agency. The National Border Patrol Council said in a report released June 24 that the patrol recently dropped educational requirements that called for applicants to have at least a high school diploma or a high school equivalency certificate. "This relaxation of standards is a matter of concern," the report said. ...

PIEDRAS NEGRAS, Mexico, The first of 400,000 trees are being planted to form a ``green wall' in protest of the fence the U.S. is building along the border with Mexico. The treeline will eventually stretch for 512 kilometres along the border between the Mexican state of Coahuila and Texas. Coahuila Gov. Humberto Moreira Valdes says ``our wall is of life, and it competes with shame and hate.' The U.S. government says the fence is critical to security. Critics say it fuels animosity between the two countries and raises environmental and private property concerns. The mayor of a Texas border town attended the tree planting in Piedras Negras. Eagle Pass Mayor Chad Foster opposes the ongoing ...

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided an Arlington aircraft manufacturing plant Thursday and arrested 32 undocumented workers. Agents executed the search warrant at Aerospace Manufacturing Technologies, Inc., which supplies parts for both commercial and military aircraft, including the Boeing 737 and 777, according to an ICE news release. The raid was prompted by an ICE audit of AMT's employment records that led agents "to believe that a small percentage of the company's employees used counterfeit documents to secure their jobs," the news release said. There is no evidence that AMT knew that workers had used false credentials to get their jobs. All of the ...
